Sailing teams on track for Naples 2027

With Naples confirmed as the 2027 America's Cup venue, the world's leading sailing teams have intensified their preparation programs. The technical challenge is enormous: the AC75 foiling monohulls that will race in the Gulf of Naples require months of testing and refinement.

Emirates Team New Zealand: the defenders

The New Zealand team, winners of the last two editions, has already begun testing the new boat. Boat captain Nathan Outteridge stated: "Naples is a fascinating race course. The Gulf's thermal wind requires a very specific technical configuration".

Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli: the Italian hope

The Italian challenge is perhaps the most anticipated by home fans. Luna Rossa has accelerated the development program of its AC75 and has confirmed Francesco Bruni and James Spithill as the tactical pair. Based in Cagliari for training, the team is already in contact with Naples authorities about race base logistics.

INEOS Britannia: the British challenge

The British team led by Sir Ben Ainslie is building its boat in a dual configuration to test different aerodynamic concepts. The declared budget exceeds £200 million.

New challengers

Among the new teams that could join the challenge:

Regatta calendar

The Louis Vuitton Cup (to decide the challenger) will be held from April to June 2027. The final Match Race is scheduled for July 2027.
